(This page is hosted by Survive, a UK based rape survival site.)
The newsgroup talk.rape was started on 23 May 91. The original control message which created the newsgroup stated that the purpose of the group was "Discussions on stopping rape" which are "not to be crossposted"
Those two rules are effectively the Charter of talk.rape.
Some people currently post off-topic and/or offensive material to talk.rape. As well as offending many people, these posts can act as severe triggers to rape victims reading the group.
If you are rape or sexual abuse survivor, especially if you have a history of post traumatic stress disorder, flashbacks etc, then please read talk.rape with caution.
If you are concerned about the effect of these off topic posts on rape survivors (and the general atmosphere of the group), then you could consider complaining to the posters' ISPs.
If your web browser is configured to read newsgroups itself then this link to talk.rape should let you see the current posts to the group. Alternatively, you can use Dejanews to read talk.rape via the Web.
